Location: Australia ⏰ Work Mode: Work from anywhere (Remote) Role: Civil Construction Estimator PERMANENT REMOTE, DAYSHIFT Job Title: Civil Construction Estimator Note: 40 hours per week. It can be 50 hours per week. Job Summary The Civil Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects including earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, and concrete works. The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, sourcing supplier and subcontractor pricing, and producing competitive, risk-aware tenders that support profitable project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Estimating & Tendering Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of works Perform detailed quantity take-offs for civil works (earthworks, pavements, services, structures, etc.) Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions Develop pricing based on labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, overheads, and margins Identify cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative construction methods Supplier & Subcontractor Management Request, assess, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations Maintain a database of subcontractors, suppliers, and current market rates Evaluate scope gaps and ensure quotes align with project requirements Commercial & Risk Analysis Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and contingencies Assist with contract reviews and clarification submissions Support bid strategy development and pricing reviews Collaboration & Reporting Work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams Participate in tender reviews and handover meetings Prepare cost breakdowns, schedules, and estimating reports for management Required Skills & Qualifications Experience Minimum 3–5 years experience in civil construction estimating (junior roles may require less) Experience estimating projects such as roads, subdivisions, utilities, drainage, or bulk earthworks Exposure to both lump sum and schedule-of-rates contracts (preferred) Technical Skills Strong understanding of civil construction methods and sequencing Proficiency in quantity take-offs and cost estimation Experience with estimating software (e.g, Trimble, Excel, Expert Estimator) Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications Knowledge of local construction standards and regulations Ready to take your career to the next level?
